St Leger 2018 Horse Racing Betting Odds

The St Leger Stakes is the culmination of the William Hill St Leger Festival Day held at the Doncaster Racecourse. St Leger is the oldest of the five British classics and is held each September in Doncaster, marking the end of the summer in the UK. The race is the longest of all five Classics and the last one as well.

The St Leger Stakes attract a crowd of about 30,000 people every year and the most prestigious stables from all over the country as well. It is the climax of the four-day-long St Leger Festival and is just as much a social event as it is a prestigious race. The festival features fashion, music, and live entertainment while the spectators enjoy cold champagne under the brilliant sunshine.

Besides the St Leger Stakes, the festival also includes the Champagne Stakes and the fast Portland Sprint. The St Leger Stakes is, however, the biggest attraction and the race all spectators are dying to see. Throughout the years, the race has seen big champions grace the field. This race is the final leg of the so-called Triple Crown events which start with the 2000 Guineas and continue with the Derby.

St Leger is open to 3-year old thoroughbred fillies and colts that run over a racecourse of 1 mile, 6 furlongs, and 115 yards. The inaugural race was held in 1776 but didn’t rise to prominence until around the 1800s, when a horse named Champion won the first double. Over time, the St Leger Stakes rose in popularity, eventually becoming one of the five Classics and evolving into the event we know today.

Last year, the race was won by Capri, an Irish thoroughbred racehorse who also won the Irish Derby. This year’s Stakes will surely offer plenty of excitement and fun, both from a racegoer’s and punter’s point of view.

SportPesa

With a load of sports you can bet on and great reputation, SportPesa has become one of the biggest names on the British betting market. Since arriving in the UK in 2014, the Kenyan bookmaker has managed to strike sponsorship deals with more than a few Premier League clubs which made it a household name. Featuring the best odds on the market and numerous sporting events, SportPesa’s dominance on the British betting scene will undoubtedly continue.

SportPesa includes a number of horse racing events including St Leger. The main favourite for this year’s Stakes is Kew Gardens. The Irish racehorse is being given odds of 10/3 before Latrobe with 13/2 and Wells Farhh Go at 8/1.

In the middle of the list, Rostropovich is given odds of 14/1, just like Delano Roosevelt. Proschema is at the bottom of the list with odds of 100/1, being given virtually no chances of winning the St Leger Stakes.

From a punter’s point of view, Kew Garden’s odds seem great. You’ll get 4 times your investment if the Irish racehorse wins, which is a nice payout. If you’d like to take a bigger risk, go for Latrobe or Wells Farhh Go.

Fun88

Featuring numerous sporting markets, great deals for newcomers and loyal punters and some of the best odds in the business, Fun88 should definitely be on your list.

When it comes to St Leger Stakes, Fun88 favours Kew Gardens, giving this racehorse odds of 10/3. Next on the list is Latrobe with odds of 13/2, trailing far behind the Irish thoroughbred. Wells Farhh Go is third on the list with 8/1, coming right in front of Forever Together (10/1) and the duo of Southern France and Lah Ti Dar with odds of 12/1.

Nelson is somewhere in the middle of the list of St Leger favourites with odds of 22/1 which the horse shares with Mildenberger. Zabriskie is further down the list with 40/1, while Family Tree (80/1) and Proschema (100/1) are the ultimate outsiders this year.

Kew Garden’s odds for winning the race look great to us. Placing a reasonable bet on this racehorse will quadruple your investment, which is something every punter hopes for. So, either place a bet on the first favourite or go for some of the other racehorses if you’re brave enough.

If you agree with the bookie that Kew Gardens has the biggest chances of winning the race, the 10/3 odds surely look great. If you think some of the other horses will win the Stakes, betting on them will bring you even more money.

If you’d like to try your luck with the longshots, Family Tree and Proschema are last on the list with odds of 80/1 and 100/1 respectively.

As a great horse racing bookmaker, Genting Bet features all the upcoming horse racing events including the St Leger Stakes. Kew Gardens is still the favourite, although this time with odds of 7/2. Latrobe comes on the second spot with odds of 6/1, before Wells Farhh Go with 8/1 and the trio of Forever Together, Southern France, and Lah Ti Dar with odds of 12/1.

There are more than a few horses somewhere in the middle of the list of favourites with odds of 33/1, including Zabriskie, Sevenna Star, James Cook, and Victory Salute. At the back end, Proschema is once again the biggest outsider with odds of 100/1.

Kew Garden’s 7/2 odds look great for a major favourite, so if you were planning on wagering, we think the Irish racehorse looks like a solid bet. If you’re a risk taker, go with one of the horses below on the list – the risk is higher, but so is the reward.
